Commun-Empower Program

The CommunEmpower Program is designed to support un-partnered and solo parenting parents in preparing for and navigating the challenges of bringing a new baby home. Focused on improving the quality of life for both babies and parents, the program offers comprehensive education, resources, and social support to strengthen parental relationships, mental health, and social networks. Through a series of interactive workshops and peer support groups, participants learn essential skills for newborn care, birth preparation, coping with stress, and accessing community resources. The CommunEmpower Program aims to empower parents by providing culturally responsive, practical guidance that fosters a nurturing and supportive environment for the entire family.

perinatal mental health training

BGMHC provides perinatal mental health training for birth workers, healthcare providers, and community advocates. Our trainings cover essential topics such as recognizing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-informed care, and culturally appropriate approaches to supporting Black mothers. The training programs are designed to increase the availability of competent mental health support within the community, promote early detection and intervention, and improve maternal mental health outcomes through comprehensive, inclusive care.
